Stream Reach and Catchments Tool

In this lesson,  we will go over the Stream Reach and Catchments tool. This is the third and final step of developing your perennial stream network.

Before beginning this step, you should  have—

1. Delineated your perennial flow network using either the Area Threshold tool or the Peuker-Douglas tool.

2. Manually populated the StreamType field in either of those networks. If you did not code your perennial network then the Stream Reach and Catchments tool will consider every flowpath to be a part of the stream reach. This would include ephemeral and intermittent streams that require different conservation practices.

Tool Summary

Inputs

1. Flow Network (either AreaFlowNet + inHUC) or (PDFlowNet + inHUC)

2. D8 flow direction raster

3. Filled DEM raster

4. USER DECISION: Field name (StreamType) to create stream reach and catchment

5. USER DECISION: Classification value (StreamType value)

6. Pour points (optional)

Outputs

1. Stream reach polyline layer (StreamReach + inHUC)

2. Catchments polygon layer (Catchments + inHUC)
