LECTURE: Technology, inclusion, and COVID at work

Hi folks!  Last week we just met for discussion so our first lecture happens this week on Tuesday.  Remember that each student is either scheduled for the in-person lecture session at 2:30pm-3:45pm in 1220 Microbial Sciences, or for viewing the lecture online.

The Tuesday lecture is available below.  We discussed how this course connects to your path through college, your ideas about a future career, and the current world of work during a global pandemic of COVID -- with a special focus on two themes that apply to any career path, technology and diversity/inclusion.

(The video starts about 3 minutes in, after some introductory music as students file into the lecture hall.  Unfortunately the sound levels are a bit too high, so you may have to reduce your computer volume for comfortable listening.)

You can also view a PDF of the lecture slides here: Download Lecture slides - INTER-LS 215 week (2).pdf

Supplemental videos

I would also like all students to watch three short videos in addition to lecture: Two introductions to our L&S career center, called SuccessWorks Links to an external site., and a bit of advice about professionalism from an L&S alum.  (These are only about 10 minutes total.)

Introducing SuccessWorks (00:02:14)

What is SuccessWorks? (March, 2019 - 00:03:24). Hear from our Student Staff members about what SuccessWorks means to them and why you should come in for a visit (or even just for the free coffee and hot chocolate).
