Resource Inventory
The NRCS conservation planner needs to conduct a site visit and evaluate the current condition of the land to determine if there are resource concerns present. The NRCS conservation planner schedules a site visit and uses the NRCS-CPA-52 Environmental Evaluation Worksheet to identify the baseline conditions of Pat’s land.
The NRCS-CPA-52 Environmental Evaluation Worksheet helps examine the impact of proposed practices on Soil, Water, Air, Plants, Animals, Energy and Humans (SWAPAE+H). It helps identify the following:
- Are there resource concerns present (SWAPAE+H)?
- What are the alternatives (options) for addressing the resource concerns?
- Are there cultural resources present in or around the site?
Also, the NRCS conservation planner keeps in mind the ability of the owner or operator to maintain/support the practice once implemented.
The owner/operator ultimately selects one of the alternatives. This decision is documented on the NRCS-CPA-52 Environmental Evaluation Worksheet.
