THURSDAY DISCUSSION: Polished personal brands, learning outcomes, article speeches (S17, S18)
This is our final synchronous discussion of the semester!
For the first part of discussion, each student will re-perform their personal brand speech, and then your TA will lead you in a discussion of what's most effective when making these sorts of presentations. (You'll be surprised at how much your public speaking has improved!)
Your TA may choose to set the session up in a "speed dating" style where each student gets to give their personal brand speech several times in several different one-on-one mock interview settings. In this case, pay attention to the ways in which your personal brand speech subtly changes depending on what you heard previous students say about themselves as the session progresses. Being able to adapt your brand speech to new audiences or changing circumstances is an important skill.
During the second half of discussion, students S17 and S18 will perform their scholarly article speeches on this week's "action readings," and other students will be chosen to lead discussion.
Finally, if time remains, your TA will open up the floor for students to talk about what they've learned in this class and what next steps they are taking that might connect to the themes of our course.
