What You Will Get Out of this Class

Ready-to-use and easily applied grammar and vocabulary for a dairy farm. Not only will you get a foundation speaking, reading, and writing in the Spanish language - focusing on the key grammar and language skills you need - but a robust vocabulary for dairy-related terms and phrases.

Learning Objectives

As part of this class, students will...

Practice using and conjugating Spanish present tense verbs for use in basic sentences.
Use general dairy farm Spanish vocabulary in practice conversations.
Develop a foundational knowledge and skills of the Spanish language.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this class, students will be able to...

Demonstrate basic competency in Spanish language comprehension and practice.
Construct simple sentences in Spanish using basic grammar of subject-noun-verb agreement.
Apply general dairy farm Spanish vocabulary in conversations at the workplace.

Please Note: This is only a 4-week class (8 weeks if you participate in both Levels) and it is practically impossible for anyone to become fluent - much less bilingual - in that amount of time. We want to provide the information and content that will help you feel more comfortable speaking Spanish and be more effective communicators when working with Latinx/Hispanx people in the dairy industry. From this course you should be able to have short, informal conversations to get to know someone better, explain a direction, give commands, or answer questions. We strongly recommend having a neutral interpreter available when you need to have HR-related conversations or formal meetings.

Time Commitment

We have built this course with the expectation that you will be spending at minimum 6 hours per week on the material for this course. This estimate includes the online content and one, 1-hour live session. Ideally you are spending around 9 hours per week, including the live session. We've broken down this time by the elements of the class so you can see how much we estimate each part to take. Note: Each week runs Friday morning to Thursday night; however, we did not account for any time you might put in during the weekend. The time commitment is built assuming all the work is done Monday through Friday.

There are many practice activities to help you learn the material. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of all the material we have provided and participate in every activity to get the best experience from this course. Learning a language takes time and the more effort you can dedicate to this course and learning the material and content will help you to better retain the information.

Each week builds on the ones before while introducing new vocabulary around a specific topic related to a dairy farm. Examples and scenarios are all built for use on the farm or based on real-life situations.
